Fishing in Freezing Utah!

We love to go fishing as a family, but we haven't had any luck here in Utah! I almost had a 2ft. rainbow trout hooked, but he got away. We want the kids to see one so bad. So, we did some research online and found some ponds that are stocked for kids 14 years old and under, so we made the hour drive and guess what, the water was frozen. There was a small opening in the water and we decided we were going to try it. Imagine this.....Climbing up the snow to sit on a blank in the snow, to go ice fishing with a 3 and 5 year old. I was completely miserable. Donny tried for about 30 minutes to catch something, but he finally gave up after only a couple nibbles. So the kids say they hate fishing now, and I'm sure they don't even believe us that there's really fish in there. We are going to keep trying, we have to catch a fish someday, right?

That sounds chilly! I'm sure you will convince them to fish again.

If you are going to go Ice Fishing- head up to Strawberry! That lake is full of beautiful trout! But do dress in millions of layers!

Wait for spring/summer and head there too- it is a fun place!

There is also Provo river too- but i dont know if they allow bait fishing.

Peter fly fishes in the rivers- so I dont know the rules there!
